The United States Government has been urging relief for women and children of occupied countries for some months, it was stated here today by a spokesman of the State Department.
The statement was made following a visit to Secretary of State Cordell Hull today by a number of ambassadors of the German-occupied countries, during which they presented Mr. Hull with a memorandum regarding relief for children in occupied territories. The Secretary’s statement was taken here to mean that the U. S. Government has been trying unsuccessfully to persuade Great Britain to let food go through the blockade.
