Part of the $65,000,000 recently voted by the U.S. Congress as American grant-in-aid to Israel may be used for the purchase of food and other consumption commodities, Bruce McDaniel, newly appointed Director of Technical Co-operation for Israel, declared yesterday at a press conference here.
Mr. McDaniel said he expects to reach Israel by December 10 and will remain there for two years. He emphasized that the terms of American economic aid to Israel do not require the Jewish State to use the grant-in-aid funds exclusively for purchasing needed material in the United States, but that purchase can be made wherever they are most advantageous. He also stressed the program of training Israeli workers by bringing them to the United States.
