A five-year $64,000 grant by the United States National Health Institute for research on the effects of snake venom and development of effective antidotes was announced here today. The grant was made to Dr. Aharon Shulov, director of the Jerusalem Zoo and Lecturer in Zoology at the Hebrew University.
Dr. Shulov also will study conditions of building up immunity to snake and scorpion venom, as well as basic research on components of venoms to find out which elements are the most deadly. The current grant brings to $200,000 the funds allocated by the United States Health Institute during the past month for medical research at Hebrew University.
