U.S. Grants Funds to Jewish Medical Centers in Philadelphia, Baltimore

The National Institute of Mental Health of the U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare has made a grant of $211,000 to the Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia to support an expanded teaching program for fellows in psychiatry during the next five years. The center is preparing a 40-bed psychiatry section.

The Sinai Hospital in Baltimore has been allotted grants totalling $150,000 by the U. S. National Institute of Health for research in cancer and heart conditions. One grant, for $80,000, is for installation of an electron microscope in the hospital’s new research facilities for cancer work. Sinai Hospital already has a $500,000 grant for a five-year program on the chemo-therapy of cancer.
