United States Secretary of State Dean Rusk met for an hour and 10 minutes today with Mrs. Golda Meir, Foreign Minister of Israel. All that either of the major participants in the conference would say after the lengthy talk was that “matters of mutual interest to both Governments” were discussed and that the talks were held “in a very good, cordial atmosphere.”

Accompanying Mrs. Meir to the conference were Michael S. Comay, Israels permanent representative to the United Nations; Avraham Harman, Israel’s Ambassador to Washington; Mordechai Gazit, Minister to Israel’s Embassy at Washington; and Gideon Rafael, deputy director-general of Israel’s Foreign Ministry and a delegate to this year’s General Assembly.

Earlier, Mrs. Meir entertained at her traditional “distaff luncheon” 60 women members of UN delegations and other women guests. One of the guests was Madame Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, sister of India’s Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
