The Department of Agriculture announced today an agreement between the United States and Israel which provides for financing the purchase of $37,742,000 worth (including certain ocean transportation costs) of U. S. agricultural products. formal aligning of the agreement will take place shortly.
The items covered by this agreement include $15,350,000 worth of seed grains and $11,256,000 worth of wheat. The agreement provides that 25 percent of the Israeli pounds received in payment for these purchases shall be made available as loans to American and Israeli firms operating in Israel. Sales will be by private American traders.
