Rep. Seymour Halpern, New York Republican, today urged that the American delegation to the United Nations use Khrushchev’s visit as an opportunity to press in the UN Committee on Human Rights for alleviation of the plight of Jews in the Soviet Union.

In a letter to Secretary of State Christian Herter, Rep. Halpern expressed concern over the fate of 3,000,000 Jews in the Soviet Union who are denied rights to religious, educational, and cultural expression.
