U.S. Vice President Al Gore issued a thinly veiled criticism of Israel for suspending implementation of the Wye accord. In a speech before the Israel Policy Forum in New York, Gore called on both Israel and the Palestinian Authority to implement the accord with no new conditions. Israel has been the sole target of criticism from the Clinton administration for imposing such conditions. The address was Gore’s first speech to a Jewish audience since he formally declared his candidacy to run for president in 2000.
