A four-member team from the United Nations has completed its investigation into reports that Israel was diverting the waters from the Wazzani and Litani rivers in Lebanon and found that the Lebanese and Arab allegations were unfounded, Israel Radio reported today.
The radio report said the findings of the UN team are unlikey to be published. Lebanon has asked the Security Council to hold a meeting on its charges of Israel’s illegal diversion of the waters. The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow “to consider all practices and measures taken by the Israeli occupying authorities in southern Lebanon, the western Bekaa and the Rashya region.”
