The board of trustees of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations yesterday approved a minimum budget of $1,759,625 to meet the needs of its 605-member Reform temples. The action was taken at the close of a two-day meeting at Temple Emanu-El here.

The Reform Jewish group also adopted an intensified program of adult education for temple members throughout the United States and Canada. The adult education project calls for the establishment of an Academy of Jewish Studies in every Reform temple, the development of a curriculum, the preparation of texts and guides, and the appointment of a national board of adult Jewish education.

Rabbi Jacob P. Rudin, spiritual leader of Temple Bethel, Great Neek, N. Y., was named chairman of the new education board. The program will be carried out by the Union’s director of adult education Dr. Chaim Essrog.
