In the death of Captain Frank Connes, who died last week, the United Jewish Campaign lost one of its ablest workers. In 1917 Captain Connes served as an official interpreter for the U. S. Government in Russia and Roumania. He was a member of the Near East Relief Commission in 1920 and he had travelled extensively in Russia and Eastern Europe investigating social and economic conditions. He was a great advocate of the work of the Joint Distribution Committee.
