The University of Pennsylvania has established a Modern Near East Language and Area Center as part of its Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Moshe Greenberg, professor of Hebrew and Semitic languages and literature, has been named acting director of the new Center. The center will examine the linguistic, historical, political and socio-economic conditions of the Arab countries and of Israel, Turkey and Iran.
