Three important resolutions affecting Canadian Jewry were adopted by the Montreal Jewish Community Council at their annual meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr. Lyon Cohen.
A resolution was adopted to instruct the Jewish members of Parliament to introduce legislation in the Federal House. making it a criminal offense to sell as kosher food which is not declared so by a Council of Orthodox Rabbis.
With reference to the Jewish school problem, a resolution was adopted authorizing the Jewish Community Council to be represented by an attorney at the Privy Council, if the recent judgment by the Canada Supreme Court, legalizing the establishment of separate Jewish schools, shall be appealed. If not then the council is authorized to call upon the Provincial Government to establish separate schools for Jewish children.
A further resolution adopted provided that the Council shall embrace in its activities every branch of Jewish communal undertakings.
