Incorporation of the study of Yiddish in the curricula of Israeli public schools and Israeli governmental grants and tax abatements to Yiddish theater and cultural institutions now provided to Israel’s Hebrew theater and cultural institutions was urged here today at the 1972 convention of the Workmen’s Circle.

The 1000 delegates, in the same resolution, also called on the Israel government to devote more time on radio and television to Yiddish language programs and arrange for its emissaries to Jewish communities in other countries to participate “in the strengthening of Yiddish cultural institutions” in those Jewish communities. Another resolution noted “with satisfaction the proliferation of Jewish studies departments in American universities.”
