The National Democratic Party office here confirmed a report that Utah’s Democratic Presidential caucuses, which had been scheduled for last Monday, April 16, were postponed until April 25 to avoid any conflict with the Passover holiday. Last Monday was Erev Passover, the night of the first Seder.

According to Patrick Shea, the Utah Democratic Party chairman, the original April 16 date for the state’s 703-member caucus meeting was set by the Republican-controlled state legislature last January. He noted that the legislators were unaware that April 16 was a Jewish holiday.
