After checking admission procedures in Jewish homes for the aged in the United States and Canada, the Vancouver Jewish Administrative Council voted today to recommend that the local Jewish Home for the Aged accept a $125,000 legacy which requires that the institution admit Gentile patients on the same terms as Jewish ones.
The legacy was left by Louis Brier of Lynn Creek whose bequest created considerable controversy, partly because acceptance of the gift would require alteration of the institution’s constitution. The Administrative Council’s investigation indicated a trend toward Jewish and non-Jewish admissions.
