More than a score of tombstones in the Jewish cemetery maintained here by Congregation Nidche Israel were desecrated over the past weekend. Gravestones were overturned, swastikas were smeared on a number of tombstones, and anti-Semitic slogans were painted on some of the monuments.
An official of the Mexico City police department sharply condemned the desecrations today and promised a thorough investigation in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators.
