Declaring that “the policy of intervention signifies war,” the Osservatore Romano, semi-official vatican organ, tonight rebuked Germany’s claim to priority of interest in the Sudeten-Czechoslovak problem and at the same time insisted the matter was one of general European interest.

The editorial praised Czechoslovakia for having refrained from anti-Semitism and other racial intolerance, and declared the minorities problems should be worked out in conformity with minorities rights, respect for the integrity of states and respect for European peace.
