Harold Weiner, English barrister and Oriental scholar, who was murdered during the first Arab outbreak, was the foster parent of two Arab children, one a Moslem Arab, the other a Christian, whom he had adopted. Mr. Weiner was known for his friendly interest in the Arab population. He was a generous benefactor of Arab institutions. In his will , which was opened, there was a bequest of $50,000 for Arab welfare purposes.

He was one of the leading members of a Jerusalem Jewish organization named Brith Shalom (Covenant of and friendship between Jews and Arabs in Palestine. He went further than other members by favoring the creation of a legislative council in Palestine.
