Only Christian teachers are now being employed by the city of Vienna, Vice-Mayor Dr. Kress publicly announced today at a mass meeting.

He also announced that Christians are being appointed to posts made vacant by the general cleanup which followed the crushing of the Socialists and the Nazis. More than 7,000 such officials have been hired by the municipality since last April, Dr. Kress announced, adding that they were all Christians.

Jewish newspapers in Vienna also commented today on the anti-Semitism displayed by the Vienna municipality in the hiring of new employes and in the fashion in which Jews were being discriminated against in all branches of the municipal services.

Hundreds of Jewish doctors, nurses and teachers have been discharged and applications invited from “Aryans” to fill their places. Even in the special ghetto schools which were created for Jewish school children, Jewish teachers are refused posts.
