The General Assembly of the Austrian Parliament approved by an overwhelming majority today the Austrian-West German financial agreement setting up a joint compensation fund for victims of the Nazi era in Austria.

Under the agreement. West Germany will contribute about $80,000,000 or about half of the to the total joint fund for such payments to political and racial persecutees. A total of 157 deputies–all members of the Socialist and Peoples’ Parties–voted for the agreement. Only eight deputies of the right-wing Austrian Freedom Party, known for its-neo-Nazi tendencies, voted against ratification.
