There are about 20,000 drug abusers in Israel, according to Dr. R. Meyer, a government psychiatrist who addressed a pilot meeting of volunteers here last week. The volunteers, headed by Mrs. Ruth Dayan, former wife of Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, intends to establish a drive against drug abuse by setting up an information center, first aid stations and a clinic for drug addicts. The volunteers are seeking to implement preventative techniques among youngsters who are exposed to drugs.
