Ladimer Russu, a Rumanian war criminal respon## for the murder of at least 70 Jews in 1941, has been arrested trying to cross Polish border in a repatriation train.

During the Russian retreat from northern Bucovina Russu organized a seven##band which raided Jewish homes in the village of Sadagura and rounded up 72 Jews, ##uding several known as “close friends” of Russu. The Jews were taken to a nearby ### where 70 of them were shot and killed and two escapod.

The Bucharest police, with the assistance of the two survivors, are in##igating the case prior to handing Russo over to the Russian authorities who, ##r International War Crimes Commission regulations, will try him at the scene of ### crimes.
