It was reliably learned today that JEAS, Jewish emigration society in Warsaw, has received permission from the Nazi authorities to contact American relatives for Polish Jews, of whom more than 3,000 have already registered in the hope of making such contact.
JEAS transmitted the 3,000 messages to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in New York, which will try to forward them to the relatives. This will be the first group of letters from Polish Jews to reach their families and friends in America since the Nazi occupation. JEAS is functioning unhampered and is giving legal aid on emigration matters and advice on the securing of visas.
