Local Jewish federation and welfare funds throughout the country were urged to maintain their support of Jewish educational work in their communities, in a resolution adopted last night at the closing session of the Third Annual Conference of the American Association for Jewish Education. Another resolution approved by the delegates called for preservation of the standards of Jewish educational work and charged the executive committee of the Association with the responsibility of assisting in a country-wide effort to coordinate the emergency programs and post-war plans of Jewish educational institutions.
Mark Eisner, former chairman of the Board of Higher Education in New York City was re-elected president of the Association. Among the other officers elected were Messrs. Frank C. Marshall of Chicago, Nathan H. Friedmen of Boston, Isadore S. Turover of Washington, Hon. Louis E. Levinthal of Philadelphia and Charles J Rosenbloom of Pittsburgh, Vice-Presidents, Bernard Semel, Honorary Secretary, Harry H. Liebowitz, Treasurer, Israel S. Chipkin, Secretary and Samuel Grand, Executive Secretary.
