West German President Heinrich Luebke, Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and other leaders of the German Government greeted the Jewish population of this country this weekend with special Rosh Hashanah messages.
Among the greetings were messages from Dr. Eugen Gerstenmflier, speaker of the Bundestag, lower house of Parliament; and Dr. Gerhard Schroeder. Minister of the Interior, as well as from leaders of all major political parties. Dr. Schroeder, in his message, expressed the hope that “the mutual understanding between Jews and non-Jews may further be deepened in Germany.”
