The Williams College chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity has been suspended by the national fraternity for accepting a Jewish student as a member in contravention of the national organization’s constitution, it was announced here last night.
The fraternity’s charter restricts membership to “men of white and full Aryan blood.” Peter F. Connolly, president of the Williams College chapter of the fraternity, refused to give the name of the Jewish student, but said he was a resident of New York City. He added that on a secret ballot, all 57 members of the William College unit voted unanimously to retain the Jewish student in the organization.
