The second world congress of Jewish physicians opened here last night with more than 300 delegates from 18 countries participating. Sixty physicians from France, 50 from the United States, 20 from Britain, and ten from Turkey and Yugoslavia are among the participants. The four-day meeting will consider Israel’s medical problems and will hear monographs read by specialists.
Premier David Ben Gurion, in greeting the congress, said that the Jews were the first to make medicine their life vocation in ancient as well as in modern times. The delegates were also greeted by Dr. Joseph Burg, Israel’s Minister of Health; Dr. A. Sherman, president of the Israel Medical Association; Professor Mazor, new Rector of the Hebrew University and others.
