The world’s anthropologists have bestowed their award on the famous French-Jewish scholar, Prof. Claude Levi-Strauss, of the College de France in Paris.
The honor, based on a vote of anthropologists throughout the world, was the Viking Fund Medal, accompanied by a $10,000 prize. It was awarded at a banquet here held in connection with a symposium at the University of Chicago’s Center for Continuing Education. Prof. Levi-Strauss is famous for his studies of primitive cultures.
