Zionist leaders attended a closed meeting of the Partition Commission, which, after a two-week tour of Palestine, is preparing to conduct open hearings. Those attending the meeting were Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, David Ben Gurion, chairman of the Agency’s Jerusalem executive, Moshe Shertok, head of its political department, and Bernard Joseph, legal adviser to the Agency. The question of procedure at the open sessions is reported to have been discussed.
The second British soldier wounded in an attack Saturday on the Acre-Safed road died today. His comrade died Sunday. New clashes were reported today. Near Hebron two police and several Arabs were wounded in a skirmish. One policeman and one traveller were killed on the Hebron-Jerusalem road when terrorists fired on an autobus. Fire destroyed part of a wall around a banana plantation belonging to the Marquess of Reading. It is located on the shore of Lake Tiberias.
