ZOA Declares Readiness to Consider Jewish State Plan; Hits ‘unauthorized’ Negotiations

The Zionist Organization of America’s administrative committee expressed its readiness today to consider without prejudice the plan for a Jewish State to be submitted to the special Zionist Congress by the Jewish Agency Executive, and also condemned unauthorized political activities “designed to create the false impression that the Jewish people reject any proposal for a Jewish State, and proposing to the British Government the crystallization of the Jewish National Home.”

The views were contained in a resolution adopted by a vote of 44 to 4 at an executive meeting held at the Hotel Astor. Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the Z.O.A., who voted for the resolution, issued a separate statement, to which Robert Szold and others subscribed, declaring: “Nothing in this resolution shall be construed as expressing an opinion on partition, which issue was left open by the resolution of the Zurich Congress and has been referred for decision to the next Zionist Congress.”
