Israeli president denies pardon request of ex-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert

"The pardoning power of the President of the State is not an appeals court," Reuven Rivlin said in denying the pardon.

President Reuven Rivlin's office said the request would be sent to the Justice Ministry for consideration, like all the others.

The former prime minister must serve an additional eight months in prison on top of the 19 months he is already serving for a corruption conviction.
