Interesting figures with regard to the proselyte movement in Poland since the resurrection of the Polish Republic were published by the Rabbinate office here. It appears that during the last three years one hundred and fifty-six persons, including former apostate, native Poles and Russians, members of the Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches, have been converted to Judaism. In 1921 thirty-two persons embraced Judaism; in 1922 thirty-six; in 1923 forty-five. During the eleven months of the present year forty-three have embraced Judaism, twenty-six of whom are men and seventeen, women; thirty-two were formerly apostates. The Rabbinate now has forty-two more applications for admittance into the Jewish faith.
An interesting feature in this proselyte movement is the fact that many Russians who expressed their desire to become Jews, stated that they rued their former anti-Jewish pogrom activities and wished to atone for them.
