An all Argentine Congress of Jewish farmers will be opened here on April 27.

The Congress, which will last several days, has for its object the creation of a federation of Jewish colonists.

JEWISH COMMUNAL ACTIVITIES

With $40,000 already pledged to their building project, members of Adath Yeshurun congregation, Minneapolis, Minn., will launch a drive for pledges for the building fund.

Plans have been adopted for a new synagogue to be erected at a cost of $180,000. Work on the building has begun.

The building will be a complete school and community center, in addition to a synagogue structure. There will be facilities for 12 class rooms, a gymnasium, theater auditorium, kitchen banquet room, locker and shower rooms, library, rabbi’s study, choir room and women’s and men’s lounging rooms. The exterior of the building will be of pink marble, of renaissance treatment.

Ground-breaking ceremonies for the new Edward L. Rothschild Memorial Building in Philadelphia, Pa., designed to serve the religious, cultural and social needs of the Jewish community centering about the Beth-El Synagogue, were conducted on the site of the building opposite the synagogue.

The building, which will cost $125,000 and will be ready for occupancy next September, is being erected in memory of Edward L. Rothschild, who died last April after thirty years of philanthropic activities. Rabbi Samuel Freedman of the Beth-El Synagogue, and J. C. Gutman, president of the congregation, conducted the ceremonies.

The memorial will be three stories high, constructed of stone and brick, faced with granite, and will conform in architectural design with the synagogue. It will contain a school accommodating 1,000 children and an auditorium seating 500 persons.
