Tel Aviv Residents Want to Vote in Jaffa Elections

(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

The residents of Tel Aviv and the Palestine Government are in disagreement over the right of the former to participate in the Jaffa municipal elections.

The Palestine Government issued an announcement according to which the Tel Aviv residents have no right to participate in the Jaffa elections. At a meeting held in Tel Aviv last night at which representatives of the township, of the industrial group and of the National Council of Palestine Jewry participated, a resolution protesting against the government announcement was adopted.

The Tel Aviv leaders pointed to the fact that under Article 11 of the Tel Aviv Constitution, the Tel Aviv residents are granted the right to participate in Jaffa elections.
