A movement on the part of the Harvard Alumni Association to place Judge Julian W. Mack on the Board of Overseers of Harvard University was launched by William P. Evarts, a Boston lawyer and Harvard graduate who filed with Winthrop H. Wade, secretary of the Board, a petition signed by 200 graduates.

Among the signers of the petition are three judges of the Superior Court of Massachusetts, also Professor Richard C. Cabot of Harvard, Elihu Root, Jr., and Walter Prichard Eaton.

Judge Mack was a member of the Board three years ago.
