Councillor Miximilian Kempner of Berlin, died here yesterday at the age of 72.
Councilor Kempner was among the most prominent legal authorities in Germany. Before the Revolution he was a member of the Reichstag and one of the leaders of the Progressive Peo- ple’s Party. After the revolution he joined the Democratic Party and was a member of its Executive. He was a member of the Imperial Economic Council and the legal adviser of many of the most important industrial and commerical concerns in the country.
Contributions of $25,000 by the wearing apparel industry to the Young Men’s Hebrew Association’s $1,500,000 building fund were announced at a luncheon rally of campaign workers at the Hotel Biltmore Wednesday. The total to date is $1,125,625, according to Samuel J. Bloomingdale, Treasurer of the Y. M. H. A.
The latest gifts include $10,000 from Jacob and Eliot Sperber; $1,000, Henry Roser.z-weig. I. D. Karpas. Oscar Abel, S. B. Cassidy, Morris W. Haft, Silver Fox Company, Inc., Ben Ginsberg and A. E. Lefcourt.
New gifts of $40,000 were brought in by workers in the campaign to raise $1,500,000 for a new Y. M. H. A. Building, at headquarters at the Hotel Biltmore, it was announced by Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, chairman. The total fund raised to date stands at $1,165,625.
An anonymous gift of $5,000 was reported. There was also a contribution of $2,000 from Philip Lehman.
