Admits Act to Avenge Horrors of Anti-Jewish Massacres in Ukraine; Is Convinced of Petlura’s Guilt in Failure to Prevent Pogroms; Recital Stirs Court and Spectators (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Sholom Schwartzbard, Jewish watchmaker, dreamer and soldier, who slew Semion Petlura, head of the Ukrainian army, to avenge the anti-Jewish massacres in the Ukraine between 1918 and 1920, took the stand in the Court of Assizes to lift the veil of silence in which the anti-Jewish massacres in the Ukraine had been enshrouded.
