(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Famine is expected in the Cherson colonies this winter, unless immediate relief measures are taken, declares the “Emes,” Communist Yiddish aily, in its issue today.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent in Moscow returned today from a tour of the colonies. He found the Cherson district in great distress, the colonists living on short rations from the city. The fields are entirely parched through lack of rain. There is no hope for the settlers except from outside relief.

In Odessa and the Krivoy Rog districts the situation is a little better. Outside help is also necessary there until the spring crop is reaped. The crop in the Crimean colonies has good prospects.
