The Communist party in Czechoslovakia is now engaged in a controversy which threatens to bring about a split because of the demand formulated by some Communist leaders that a numerus clausus for Jewish membership in the party be introduced.
The Communist press reports that some of the Communists demand the restriction in order to keep the number of Jewish members in the party proportionate to the Jewish population.
