The Union of American Hebrew Congregations “sees nothing antagonistic to or incompatible with Judaism in the proposed revision of the calendar.” states a report in the current issue of the “American Israelite.”
The Union adopted a resolution to that effect at its convention in San Francisco, adding that the matter is “in the hands of the Synagogue Council of America, on which the Union of American Hebrew Congregations has its representation.”
The Union also adopted a resolution on prayerbook revision, as follows:
“Resolved, That the Central Conference of American Rabbis be requested to appoint a committee, with which a committee of five laymen, to be appointed by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, may confer in recasting and revising the Union prayerbook.”
