Mrs. Francis B. Sayre, daughter of the late President Woodrow Wilson, in opening the Oriental bazaar sponsored by the Boston Chapter of Hadassah and Junior Hadassah at the Statler Hotel, lauded the Zionist spirit and expressed sympathy with the work in Palestine, which she declared is of great significance to the world. She was introduced by Mrs. David A. Lourie, president. Mrs. A. W. Burmon paid tribute to the late President Wilson for his interest and approval of Zionist aims.
The ball room of the Hotel Statler was converted into a Palestine market scene. The carnival attracted thousands of men and women and the proceeds from the events, culminating in a formal ball, is expected to reach $25,000. The proceeds will go for the United Palestine Appeal and to the Boston Junior Hadassah quota for Meir Shfeye and the Nurses’ Training School in Palestine.
