“Were Schreiber here I should tell him. ‘We forgive you because of your youth and your American nationality’,” Senator Gaston Menier, president of the Senate Aviation Commission, stated in his address in the Senate when the body honored the three French fliers of the “Yellow Bird.”

Arthur Schreiber was absent from the ceremonies which were held by the French authorities on Wednesday. It was said that the authorities left the question of Schreiber’s presence open to fliers and they decided not to bring him. President Doumergue who received the fliers at the Palace of the Elysee, spoke kindly of Arthur Schreiber saying: “I hope the poor little chap will not get into trouble over this.” It was said that the President was interested particularly in Assollant’s explanation of the difficulties caused him in taking off by the extra weight of the stowaway, the Associated Press stated.
