The Roumanian government was sharply criticized by the “Adeverul” for its failure to take energetic measures to suppress the excess, although it has undertaken the reins of government under the slogan of law and order.

The Ministry of the Interior announced that it will take strict measures to curb anti-Semitic excesses and that it will punish officials responsible for maintaining order for laxity in this matter. Six gendarmes, it was stated, were punished and others will be court-martialled for their failure to obey orders in preventing attacks on Jews by the members of the student congress.

The Union of Roumanian Jews urged those Jews who suffered in the recent excesses to immediately file claims for damages.
