Twelve Jewish slaughterers and cantors of Ukrainia have notified the Jewish Communist paper “Shtern,” published in Charkov that they have severed their relations with their profession and with their past as quasi-religious officials.

The “Shtern” publishes their letters and adds that “lately dozens of such letters have been received from rabbis and other Jewish religious officials who have lost their means of existence and who try to avoid the high taxes by withdrawing from religious pursuits.”
