George W. Rabinoff, director of field activities of the Bureau of Jewish Social Research, New York, was the principal speaker at a meeting held here last week for the purpose of uniting Newburgh Jews for educational and social efforts, as well as for charitable purposes. Other speakers were Rabbi Maurice J. Bloom, president of the United Jewish Charities, who was chairman of the meeting, and Rabbi Noah Rosenthal, of Congregation Bnai Israel.
Mr. Rabinoff pointed out that only 23 percent of Newburgh’s Jewish children receive any kind of Jewish education, which is far below the normal average for other cities.
