Five thousand declassed Jews in Ukrainia have been ordered placed in building work within the next two weeks as unqualified laborers by the Ukrainian government. They will be given free fare and sent under the supervision of the United Commission of the labor department, the Ort and the Comzet.
When the building season is over they will be qualified to enter labor schools and to receive there during the Winter months special training to become qualified workers for admittance into the labor unions. The number of Jewish workers and employes in Ukrainia is now 260,000, which is 40,000 more than in 1926 it was announced today. The Jewish workers there include 24,000 metal workers, 23,000 builders, 13,000 needle trade workers and 12,000 in the leather trade.
