Sergeant William Singleton of the British division of the Palestine police force was murdered last night in Haifa on the shores of Acre Bay. Sergeant Singleton was one of the oldest members of the British section of the police and was originally a member of the Irish constabulary.

He was accompanied by a Jewish girl when accosted by a stranger who called him a Jew. The stranger, returning about twenty minutes later, shot him dead. The culprit has not yet been apprehended. No political motive is attributed to the crime by the police who have instituted an investigation.
