Five hundred people attended the dedication of the new B’nai B’rith Home for the Aged and Infirm. Lieutenant-Governor Herbert H. Lehman, who was the principal speaker, told of the necessity for private care for the aged, because, he stated, “the state can only go so far in caring for the old and securing them against want. The rest must be done privately.”

Other speakers included Rabbi Nathan Krass, Albert Cohn, president of District 1, B’nai B’rith, Mayor John J. Fogarty and Mrs. Hugo Josephy. A solarium was presented to the home by Dr. Alfred M. Hellman in memory of his father, Meyer. The synagogue of the home was the gift of Mrs. Harry Kitzinger in memory of her husband. Rabbi Benjamin Werne conducted the ceremonies of dedication.
