Court of Appeal Dismisses Arab Claim to Haifa Bay Land

The Court of Appeal today dismissed the Arab claim to the Haifa Bay land owned by the Jewish National Fund, and the Bayside Land Corporation, an American Jewish firm.

The District Commissioner ruled on November 17th that 3500 dunams of land in the Haifa Bay district must be returned to the Arabs. The Court of Appeal, however, sets aside this verdict.

Mrs. Abraham Ruth, active for a quarter of a century in Jewish philanthropic work in New York, died of spinal meningitis at Mount Sinai Hospital at the age of fifty-four. She served as director of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Maternity Hospital and was a member of the women’s board of the Home of the Daughters of Israel. She also was a member of the Hebrew Day Nursery, the Daughters of Jacob, the Daughters of Israel, the Kovner Aid Society, the Kadaner Aid Society and of Temple Ansche Chesed.
